Moonpause:

Time for Power, Liberation, Choice

December 4, 2010

12:30 - 4 p.m. at

742 N. LaSalle Street

December presents us with an opportunity to celebrate our female rite of pas-sage, in three parts. There are several times in life when change affects us; be it societal/cultural or familial/religious, some events alter us forever. As women, we also experience a deeply personal unique transformation. The initiation and cessation of blood flow bookends the longest era in our lives and transitions us from maiden to mother to crone. This passage of the “triple goddess” has been honored by ancient cultures as a cycle of knowledge and growth particular to each stage and distinct to each woman.
Throughout our seminar series, we have sought to reconnect with this ancient knowledge and honor our individual spiritual walk through life. Our challenge now is to rekindle this essence while allowing our current self to evolve. We have so many options to create our own life blueprint: mother, career woman, academic, creative- yet we have come to suffer from “superwoman syndrome” in our pursuit of all options. The beauty of the triple goddess model is that we can experience it all in our continued evolution of self and elongated cycle of strength.
However, in a society that idolizes youth, we must take care to offer energetic support to our sisters and remember to reclaim the joys of being set free from day-to-day demands during the final phase off this transitory period. This is our time to explore and develop our deeper personal gifts and wisdom known as “medicine” and share these gifts as “the give away.”

Susan A. Lipshutz, L.C.S.W., has more than 25 years of experience teaching and practicing integrative psychotherapy. She brings a foundation in Western medicine and indigenous spiritual practices to her work. Previously, she has served as the Director of Behavioral Sciences for the Family Practice Residency Training Programs with the Illinois Masonic Medical Center and West Suburban Hospital. Today, as a student of crosscultural spiritual practices including Andean wisdomkeepers
and Mapuche ceremonialists, Susan integrates the ancient divine feminine wisdom of our grandmothers with her own powerful modern teachings, crafting an easy-to-understand style of empowerment and self-love attuned to the complexities of today’s modern woman. Because the sacred feminine archetype is always growing and evolving, Susan is dedicated to weaving this understanding into ongoing training, studies and sacred journeys around the globe, as well as in her individual practice in Chicago. deepest level, and encourages others to offer their personal change in service of the greater collective. Her passionate work in support of universal divine feminine wisdom teachings, embodying heartfelt love and shared purpose, offers both women and men the realization of an ancient and timeless dream – a dream that we have the privilege and responsibility not only to witness, but also to co-create.
