Travel to Mexico
• Passport. A valid U.S. Passport is now required for travel to Mexico. If you do not have a passport, go to http://travel.state.gov/passport/
for details. Due to increased demand, turnaround time for new passports can be as long as two months so please allow for plenty of time. You can also pay for expedited service, which takes approximately two weeks.
• Money. The currency in Mexico is the peso; however, American dollars are often accepted, especially at the resort itself. Please note that even if you pay with U.S. currency, your change will be returned in pesos.
• Food/Water Safety. Although the most common concern about travel to Mexico is the safety of the food and water, this should not be a problem at Maya Tulum. The resort is known for its delicious and healthy food, and takes every precaution to keep it safe. Food is washed in purified water; ice cubes and beverages are made with purified water.
• Insurance. Because the trip fee is nonrefundable, you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance so you can receive reimbursement if for some reason you are not able to attend. Although you will need to research which insurance best meets your needs, one that our trip coordinator has used in the past is MEDEX Assist at www.medexassist.com.
