The Setting

This four-day journey will be held at Dahlonega Spa Resort in Dahlonega, Georgia, in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Located about an hour and a half north of Atlanta, this peaceful natural oasis is run by the same group that owns Maya Tulum. Those of you who have attended past gatherings at that sister resort can attest to the care and attention that goes into making the entire experience exquisite in every way. From the healthy and delicious meals to the beauty of each guest room to the intentionality and kindness of the staff, everything about the resort is focused on the comfort of the guests and the quality of life during our visit. And when held in such deep nurturing and support, we are free to soar, explore and go deep.

There are several types of accommodations at Dahlonega—each beautifully appointed with a private bath and walk-in shower. Note that rooms are available as singles and doubles. After you register, we will ask for your roommate preference or make an assignment for you. We will make every effort to match you with the room you prefer. However, room assignments are first-come, first-serve, especially for the cabins.

Options include:

  • Farmhouse Guest Room
Located in either the Main House or the West Wing. These cozy rooms are near the dining room, front porch and Jacuzzi and feature gorgeous views of the mountains and the English garden.
  • Cabins
Located in the woods surrounding the property, each cabin has single or double guest rooms, a small covered porch and a sitting area. They offer wooded views.

We will be there at one of the sweetest times of the year—warm during the days, cool in the evenings, with a hint of fall in the air.

The resort is set across 72 acres of land near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is home to a vast array of wildlife—from deer and foxes to hawks and eagles—as well as stunning natural scenery, including meadows, a large natural pond and age-old trees. You'll enjoy panoramic views, an English wildflower garden, pure fresh air and, we are told, sublime sunsets.

In addition to hiking trails, there is a walking labyrinth on the property, an outdoor Jacuzzi and a spa that offers body work, wraps, scrubs and skin care.

All the resorts in this group are known for their food, and Dahlonega is no exception. There will be a wide variety of choices at each meal, including many options for vegetarians and vegans. Meals are served buffet style.

Wi-Fi, Cell Phones and Other Electronics

The resort offers Wi-Fi connection in the Main House free of charge. Most cell phones will work on the property as well. Note that there are no televisions or telephones in the guest rooms—the perfect opportunity to unplug!

Airfare is not included in the trip. Fortunately, with Atlanta being a hub, there are many, many nonstop flights there daily at reasonable prices. We can help arrange ground transport to the resort at a reasonable rate, but we ask that you book your arrival and departure during a designated window of time. That means arrival on September 27 no later than Noon and airline departures scheduled on September 30 no earlier than 5:00 pm.

You are also welcome to drive on your own. The town is an approximately 11-1/2 hour drive from Chicago.

Additional Expenses
Your trip fee covers three nights and four days at Dahlonega, three meals a day, a daily yoga and movement class and the workshop itself, including all ceremonies and activities associated with it.

NOT included in your trip fee:

  • Airfare
  • Ground transport to and from airports
  • Tips for resort staff
  • Spa treatments
  • Optional pre-gathering day accommodations and meals

Special Considerations

  • Alcohol
Even though alcoholic beverages are available at the resort, workshop participants must agree not to consume alcohol for the duration of the workshop.
  • Dietary Requirements
On the whole, the chefs are happy to work with participants who have specific dietary needs. They ask for advance notice, however, so please talk with our trip coordinator about planning. Note that there are small refrigerators in each of the cabins.
  • Adding an Extra Day
This year we are offering the option of a pre-gathering day, September 26. In the past, we have found coming to the gathering a day early allows time to de-stress and gradually let go of our myriad of responsibilities back home. At Dahlonga, there will be opportunities to hike, schedule spa treatments and relax. Costs for that day are not included in the trip fees, but Dahlonega is offering our group members a 10% discount on accommodations that night. If that option is appealing to you, please contact the Dahlonega Spa Resort staff directly to make arrangements.

Cost includes accommodations, programming and all meals. Payment options include check, Visa, MasterCard and PayPal.

  • Main House/West Wing/Cottage (Farmhouse Guest Rooms)
    • Double occupancy: $950
    • Single occupancy: $1,200
  • Cabins
    • Double occupancy $1,000
    • Single room (but shared cabin) $1,300

Ground Transportation

Transportation between the airport and Dahlonega should be individually booked. The cost is $50 each way. To arrange transportation, please contact Crown Mountain Limo at 706.867.0747 or crownmountainlimo@windstream.net.

As this rate is available only if you travel with others in our group, you should arrive at the airport in Atlanta on September 27 no later than Noon. This arrival time will ensure that you are able to ride with other trip participants, thus avoiding the full-price rate of $225. The retreat will end at Noon on Sunday, so please book your return to the airport (from Dahlonega) after 2:00 pm. We would like to suggest that you phone or email Crown Mountain Limo directly to coordinate times prior to making your airline reservation. This will ensure you are placed with others in our group.
