Activating Our Soul's True Voice

Learning  the art of listening and honoring our inner truth as well as finding courage to voice the authentic self.

There is a saying in most spiritual practices that is phrased differently but essentially offers the same advice: you can learn two ways — from knowledge or from suffering. We know when we are suffering, but to believe that we have a choice in the matter can be one of the most challenging acknowledgments and turning points in a life process. It requires that we seek to find and trust a part of ourselves that is not bound to old experiences, family attitudes, personality nuances, cultural messages/rules and attachment to proving that the past is our future. Those of you reading this are firmly on that path, as you are “doing the work” that is necessary to make that kind of radical shift into living from the heart.

As we learned last month, the heart can be a deceptive and confusing place filled with mythology, wounds, ghosts and forgotten emotions. Through much courageous examination of the fourth chakra, the ability to discern the difference between essence and experience has helped to restore more clarity, connection and understanding of what invigorates and feeds our heart. Similarly, to honor our true needs and find a pure inner voice that can offer authentic representation in relationships, we have to first trust that we have the capacity to “know truth” for ourselves. We must then become committed to identifying and changing the original agreements that were made earlier in our lives to keep secrets, even from ourselves, and confuse our natural instincts so as not to rock the status quo.

Contemporary trends in personal and spiritual growth focus on developing our intuition and speaking our truth. Yet many women share fears that they don’t trust the guidance they get because they do not trust the self that leads them to the information. It is one thing to be lied to by another. Even more painful to work through are the times when we felt invisible to God or Spirit. Facing and making peace with the times we turned our backs on ourselves can be the biggest impediment and most important ingredient to becoming trustworthy within the sacred partnership of the self.

In order to speak from our hearts, we must also be willing to find the voice of our soul and be patient enough to listen. This month we bring our collective energetic flashlight to radiate into the fifth chakra. This is the energetic vortex located at the throat/neck area, which organizes integrity, authentic verbal representation of the self and the ability to hear. The element associated with the fifth chakra is ether. This is a subtle realm that carries the voice of spirit. This center organizes both the human as well as soul’s desire and ability to express our personal experiences to the outside world. It is no secret that we are about to continue the next step of our year-long journey to recover and liberate our whole self by diving into a beautiful sky blue pool of honesty, knowledge and inspiration.
